The Steps to Quick and Quality Writing
A blog without content isn’t a blog. It is a waste of space. When it comes down to it, every website with a blog needs content and most webmasters want to write it themselves. It’s a chore that most don’t want to tackle. Here are 4 steps to make article writing a bit easier.
Step 1: Brainstorm
Everyone cannot sit and just crank out a good article. For those that can’t, brainstorming is the next best thing. During this session, a timer should be set for 10-15 minutes. During this time, write down all the things they could create an article about but use discretion. There are no right or wrong topics, nothing is too silly or too large. This is just a session to see what topics come out. After the 10-15 minutes are over, it’s time to review.
Step 2: Outline
After going over everything that’s been written and picking an idea, it’s time to outline an actual article. The process of article writing comes down to a well-organized outline. The outline of the article should tell the story of what the actual article will detail. It is important to include certain things in an outline:
- The purpose of the article
- Key points of the article
- The conclusion of the article
These three things will help anyone that hates article writing create a good piece of content for their website.
Step 3: Fill in the Blanks
After getting the outline done, writing will be quite a bit easier. Using the outline, people can fill in the blanks and write their first draft. The first draft of the article should be rough, filled with details that lead from the introduction, key points then through the conclusion. For most, article writing with an outline is easier because it keeps them on track and helps organize their ideas logically.
Step 4: Revise and Read Through
Once the first draft is finished, it is time to take a moment to read it. Does it make sense? Does it flow logically? Is it appealing? After reading and answering those questions, it’s time to make corrections. It is easier for people that don’t like article writing to make corrections to a full article once it’s been done. It is not as upsetting to correct an article after the 1st draft because there is something complete. Do NOT edit while writing the 1st draft.
When broken into 4 steps, article writing doesn’t seem as hard does it?
